The Arizona Diamondbacks, stuck in a downward spiral that they are desperately seeking to get out of, has fired A.J. Hinch after one year of service coaching the team as well as general manager Josh Byrnes whose contract runs through 2015.
Taking over the managerial duties is former MLB player Kirk Gibson who was serving as the bench coach in Arizona.
Gibson, who does not have managerial experience, is most famous for taking Dennis Eckersley yard in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series. That year his Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Oakland Athletics to win the championship. Gibson spent most of his Major League career playing with the Detroit Tigers who he had helped win the World Series in 1984.
Good to see Kirk get the nod for manager…
The D’Backs need a Change!!!
