Fades, Sleepers, Who To Avoid or Target In Your Fantasy Drafts

In conjunction with what chef Jordan wrote earlier this week, allow me to submit my feelings and opinions about a few fades sleepers as you prepare for your upcoming drafts. (Using 1pt PPR 12 team format)

RB Antonio Gibson / ADP 53 (Washington Commanders)
Verdict: FADE

Unless you’ve been under a rock somewhere you have been made aware of the fact that 3rd round pick Brian Robinson Jr has been turning heads during camp cutting into Gibson’s touches. Based on everything we are heading from head coach Ron Rivera this is going to a backfield by committee (with Gibson, McKissic, and Robinson).

QB Patrick Mahomes / ADP 34 (Kansas City Chiefs)
Verdict: FADE

Now before y'all go and have me committed, let me explain. For starters, I honestly believe that drafting QB’s that high is not a smart strategy but also I think the Chiefs take a step back this season. I expect them to make the playoffs but when you loose someone like Tyreek Hill you will inevitably decline in offensive / fantasy production.

WR Amari Cooper / ADP 65 (Cleveland Browns)
Verdict: FADE

QB Jacoby Brissett is going into this season as the “spot holder” until QB Deshaun Watson gets back later this season. I honestly believe that in order for Cooper to be worth the 6th round selection he’s going to have to be able to give you more than he’s going to have the opportunity to give.

TE Dallas Goedert / ADP 83 (Philadelphia Eagles)
Verdict: SLEEPER

As we currently speak right now Goedert is falling into Round 8. Obviously, he leads those 2nd tier TE’s and you should prob look to grab him a round earlier. The Eagles have the make up of a team that’s going to be offensively explosive going into the 2022 season. He’s a nice and safe way to get yourself a piece of this team without spending too much on someone like AJ Brown (WR27) or Jalen Hurts (QB7)

WR George Pickens / ADP 138 (Pittsburgh Steelers)
Verdict: SLEEPER

You didn’t think I would make it through this article and not mention someone from the Steelers, did y'all?! Kidding aside, Pickens has been turning heads all offseason and will be in position to out play his “dart throw” draft position this season. Playing alongside Diontae Johnson (WR37), Chase Claypool (WR106), and Pat Freiermuth (TE11) gives Pickens the space needed to take advantage of favorable matchups.

RB Rhamondre Stevenson / ADP 89 (New England Patriots)
Verdict: SLEEPER

Across fantasy circles there’s been an unwritten rule “Don’t ever draft Patriots players” however in this situation I think we can make an exception. As we head into the 2022 season Stevenson has taken the RB1 job away from Damien Harris (RB27) and will defiantly give owners solid ROI.
