NFL Fantasy Player Drops for Week 7

Welcome to the dog days of Fantasy Football. This is were most teams need to make their move to the top, stay on top or start a fire sale. If you are looking to get back into the playoff race or simply looking to beef up your roster, the time to make a move is now. Here's some plasyer that you might want to think about dumping in favor of better waiver wire pick ups.

RB Ty'son Williams, Baltimore Ravens (12% Owned in Yahoo Fantasy)

The Ravens were hurting for RB after the trash of injuries and Williams was thrust into the starter role. But a diminishing workload and the Ravens are playing their aquired veterans more in Latavius Murray, Le’Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman. If you haven't done so already, it's time to drop Williams.

QB Taylor Heinicke, Washington Football Team (17% Owned in Yahoo Fantasy)

I stated on last week's waiver wire adds that Heinecke is a solid start. He was going into a good matchup against a poor Chiefs defense and should have put up a nice line. He finished 24 of 39 passing for 182 passing yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. Let's be real, if you can’t put up stats against that Chiefs defense, then you can't be counted on as daily or weekly fantasy starter.

RB Myles Gaskin, Miami Dolphins (81% Owned in Yahoo Fantasy)

I drafted Gaskin and was so annoyed with his production that I dropped him 2 weeks ago. He then proceeded to throw up a 26.9 PPR point performance in week 5. So of course I tried to add him back and failed. But with that week 5 game, Gaskin averages 9.2 per game. But if we take out that one game, he averages 5.7 points per game. He's an RB34 right now and if you’re tired of waiting for him to be consistent like I was, drop him.

QB Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns (49% rostered on Yahoo)

Baker Mayfield is dealing with a left shoulder injury that will keep him out on Thursday night. But more so, Mayfield is a QB24 in fantasy and struggling to build on last year's good season. The Browns have some tough matchups coming up. Mayfield is also missing his two offensive tackles, running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Despite Landry coming back, this is not a fantasy roster spot you need to save for Baker.

TE Jonnu Smith, New England Patriots (39% rostered on Yahoo)

Patriots TE Jonnu Smith was the hot signing in the offseason after his breakout with the Titans last year. But so far, Smith has been out-targeted the past two weeks by the Patriots other YE signing Hunter Henry. Smith is also seeming less snaps than Henry, only 55% compared to 71% for Henry. Tight ends are hard to find as the pool is often dried up by now. But Smith isn't an option for you, you're better off looking for another tight end somewhere else.
