Philadelphia Sixers vs New Orleans Pelicans Game 1 Recap

Well, the 1st game of the 76ers 2021-22 season is in the books, after a couple of stressful days in which we saw Ben Simmons get thrown out of practice and subsequently suspended for 1 game for conduct detrimental to the team, the 76ers came out and beat the Pelicans 117-97.
Embiid set the tone early in the game, he scored 10 point in the 1st 5 minutes of the game and was able to get the Pelicans in early foul trouble.
They showed poise and good team chemistry along the way in blowing out the Pelicans. Tyrese Maxey played well scoring 20 points. The 76ers will look to Maxey more as the Simmons situation continues to unfold. As Maxey stated in his postgame press conference. Everybody’s capable, at the end of the day, basketball is a team effort. You need an entire team to win.
New Orleans had closed the gap to 6 points and then the legend Korkmaz promptly responded with three 3’s in less then a minute to put the 76ers up 13, it started a 20-2 run where the legend hit another 3 and sending Pelican fans home, the same Pelican fans who chanted earlier at Embiid “SIMMONS” while shooting a free throw. While I commend the Pelican fan base for trying to troll Embiid maybe look at another player, as Embiid is the biggest troll ever. The 76ers shot 52% from the arc and 80% from the free throw line, a number I think they still need to work on. Sixers scored 50 points in the paint compared to 36 points for the Pelicans.
Some notes about the game Georges Niang contributed 11 points, 76ers fans are going to love this guy.
Up next for them is Brooklyn on Friday night who took a 23-point loss to the defending champs.
